The musicians of my youth have been great inspiration for oil portraiture! Here are a few of the cast of characters...

Butterflies, Zebras and Moonbeams

This rendition of Jimi Hendrix will be displayed at MCAG's exhibit at BWI airport from Sept. - Nov. 2026.

Tribute to Jerry

Fun fact - A friend and I followed the Grateful Dead around for part of the summer after my college graduation. Those were the days!

Just a Box of Rain

One of my favorite songs, written by Phil Lesh when his own father was dying. The box in the original painting is embellished with gold leaf!

Am I the Walrus?

This rendition of John Lennon is the cover photo for my book "Who Am I?"

This book is a compilation of nearly all my dead musician paintings thus far, and can be purchased at Gallery 57 West and pop up shows by Muddy Creek Artist Guild.

When the Thrill is Gone

A legend gone too soon. :(

Tribute to Ozzy

This was my first dead musician painting so it holds a special place in my heart. A full size giclee canvas print will be on display at Gallery 57 West this fall!

Summertime

Janice was one member of the infamous 27 Club, a series of musicians who died when they were 27 years old. Gone too soon.

Let's Dance

One of my favorites. Did you know that David Bowie's eyes were not two different colors? One had a permanently dilated pupil from a school yard fight when he was young.

I Will Always Love You

Oh Whitney

When Doves Cry

I learned a lot painting this one. The biggest lesson - purple is very difficult to paint on a blue toned canvas. Not recommended!

Bob, Otis and the Sugar Magnolia

My first dog was named after a line in the song Sugar Magnolia. It was my favorite Grateful Dead song. It was written and sung by Bob Weir, who passed away in January of 2026. I decided to incorporate Bob's dog, Otis, into the painting, in kindred dog spirit.

Killer Queen

Another one of my favorites. I love incorporating the musician into a scene that depicts one of their songs. This one will be on exhibit at BWI airport between Sept.-Nov. 2026.
