Mixed Media

It was bound to happen - me combining several techniques into one mixed media type of creation. For this series, I have started combining my oil portraiture with clay relief, and - new for me - stained glass mosaic! I have found that I love cutting and grinding glass, but am very new to the techniques. These pieces have also inspired me to start writing poetry again, so many come with their own poem. I incorporate the poetry in various ways, including stamping it into the clay, wood burning it into the side of the frame, and even attaching it to the side of the piece in a scroll. Soon I will incorporate all the poetry into a book with pictures of these pieces. Stay tuned!
